Frequently asked questions
How do I play?
Drag the patch from the wooden hoop onto an empty spot next to your quilt. Tap the hoop to turn the patch. Edges with the same fabric stitch together with golden thread and score points. Rivers must meet rivers or a lake, and railways must meet railways; if a patch bounces back, turn it and try again. Pinch to zoom and drag with one finger to look around.
What are wishes?
A villager standing on your quilt with a stitched number wants something, for example a meadow of exactly five patches. Grant the wish and a bundle of new patches is added to your deck. If a region grows past an exact number, the villager simply waves goodbye; nothing is lost. Long-press a villager to read the wish.
What is a Perfect Stitch?
Place a patch in a hole where all six edges match their neighbours. You get bonus points and one extra patch.
I placed a patch in the wrong spot.
Each quilt has one seam ripper (bottom left) that takes back your last patch. The Pattern Fair has no seam ripper.
When is a quilt finished?
When your deck runs out. There is no losing: every quilt is finished, flattened and hung in your album. Your quilt in progress is saved after every patch, so you can close the game at any time.
What is free, and what can I buy?
Four biomes, the endless quilt, 12 pattern challenges and the weekly Pattern Fair are free, without ads. Fjordknit and Frostvale are biome expansions; you can try each with a free taster quilt first. Fabric sets and patron thimbles are cosmetic. The Full Sewing Chest bundles all four fabric sets and both expansions.
My purchase did not arrive, or I have a new phone.
Open Settings > Restore purchases while signed in to the same store account. If that does not help, write to us with the store receipt. Refunds are handled by Google Play or the App Store.
I lost my progress. Can it be recovered or moved?
Progress is stored only on your device; there is no cloud backup. Uninstalling the game or resetting the device erases it. Purchases can always be restored.
Can I play offline?
Yes. The whole game works offline; only purchases need a connection.
Are there ads?
No. Quiltvale has no ads, no energy and no timers.
How does the Pattern Fair work?
Every week the fair has a theme with its own rule (water, railway, harvest or wind) and everyone gets the same deck. Beat your score to earn a blue, red or gold rosette.
How do I change the language?
Settings > Language. Quiltvale is available in 11 languages; on first launch it follows your device language.
How do I reset my progress?
Settings > Reset progress. Your purchases stay yours.
Reporting a bug
In the game, open the felt envelope in the sewing basket (Unpick Note), or tap the note button on the pause flap during a quilt: your e-mail app opens with the game version and quilt details already filled in, so we can replay the problem. Or write to info@ruicodex.com and tell us what you did and what you expected to happen. A screenshot helps.
